What is a Neuro-Spinal Shift?

In healthcare, there are established normal values for a lot of things. There is a normal measurement for blood pressure, normal cholesterol and normal vision as well. It does not mean that everyone is expected to be PERFECT; there are simply healthy ranges for people according to their age and situation. The same concept is applicable to other fields as well. The established parameters for tire pressure and warning indicators on the dashboard of your car are other examples letting you know when things are abnormal.

At Premier Chiropractic, we are looking for significant shifts of the spine away from normal. Minor abnormal shifts of areas of the spine, or spinal segments, are nothing to worry about. Remember, no one is absolutely 100% perfect, including spinal alignment. However, if the Neuro-Spinal Shifts are too far out of what is considered normal, then you or your child will experience one or more of what we refer to as secondary conditions, or symptoms. The reason why we call them “secondary” is because they are the result of an underlying cause.

What are secondary conditions...

Once a Neuro-Spinal Shift is present and disrupting the spinal nerves and spinal cord, it can create many different secondary conditions, or symptoms. The reason they are called secondary conditions is because they are a result of the primary Neuro-Spinal Shift, or the underlying cause. The location of the neuro-spinal shift and where the nerves are being disrupted will give us an idea about your secondary conditions.
